Congratulations to Ian Bowmer for completing ‘Stepped out for S6’

Congratulations to Ian Bowmer who ‘stepped out for S6’ to raise money for the Sheffield food bank.

Sheffield Food bank noticed an increase in the need for and usage of the local food bank as more people experienced difficulties during the pandemic.

To support the Sheffield food bank, Ian Bowmer, Business development manager (Food Grade) at Vickers Oils, completed ‘Step out for S6’, the 60,000 steps challenge.

The ‘Step out for S6’ challenge was part of the ‘S6 Foodbank £40k for £40k Appeal’ run by the Philadelphia Network Limited, a charity working across Sheffield running foodbanks, debt support, youth clubs and church.

Completing the challenge in two days, Ian and his wife Louise finished a 31km 45,000 step walk around the Isle of Axholme on 19th December and a 14km 22,000 step walk around Wolfscote Dale and Biggin Dale on 20th December 2020.

Ian set up a ‘JustGiving page’ for family, friends, and colleagues to be able to support this cause and managed to raise 269% of his initial target of £250, raising a total of £675.

He said “I believe that nobody should have to face going hungry. A donation of £27 provides food and basic essentials for a family of three for three days.”
